This is why what you're telling yourself about your productivity is absolute BS.

Do you ever feel like there's not enough time? Do you get to the end of the week, and we wish there were more days to get stuff done, or the end of the day and wish there's more hours in the day? Do you have a lack of energy by the end of the week, where you’re tired or worn out?

We now have this concept of a hump day. You get to Wednesday, you ride your energy up to Wednesday, and coast down the hill to the weekend because you don't have the energy that it takes to storm your way there.

Sometimes it seems like there's just so much to do. You’re so busy. There’s this deluge of distraction in this complex world you’re living in. There's just so much stuff, so many demands on your time, that you’re just so busy.

This is kind of the world we're now living in. So, how do we get more stuff done?

Getting more stuff done is one of the BS stories. By BS we mean Belief System. Somewhere along the line the idea of productivity has been warped into a concept of getting more stuff done.

Productivity is not about how to get more stuff done!!

Productivity, is about how you do more of what matters most to you and we have our model below to help you do just that.

Why would you bother if you’re so busy?.

Would you like some more quality time with yourself? What about more quality time with your loved ones, with your partner, your children, your family, your friends?

What about time on your passions and hobbies? Do you have some hobbies that are on the back burner? Productivity isn't about chasing that never-ending goal of doing more. It's about doing more of the right things and more of the things that matter most to you.

So in order to free you up to do just that, we're going to bust some of these BS’s (belief systems) stories you've been telling yourselves by sharing with you the Four Pitfalls of Productivity.

Pitfall #1: Perfection

Perfection - the idea that something has to be perfect or right. You want to work on it and work on it until it's absolutely spot on.

Perfection is the lowest standard because you can never get there. Perfection doesn’t exist. So you don’t want to focus on perfection but focus on progress over perfection.

What has moved you forward? Have you gained some yards on where we were before? Look at and measure yourself against progress not perfection.

Pitfall #2: Pace

Sometimes you might find yourself saying "Where did the day go?” or “There's not enough hours in the day." That's absolute BS at work.

We all have the same amount of time in the week – 168 hours!! Those people you think that are so much more productive than you have the same amount of time as you.

Pace is about where are you spending your time and what are you spending your time on. A day can go really quickly if you are being busy and not effective. So be a guard at the door of your time and spend it wisely.

Pitfall #3: Plethora

Plethora is all of those things that you think you need to attend to, and the challenge is you are focused on this plethora of things instead of prioritising what matters most.

Where you make major gains in productivity is on prioritization. The idea that we have so many things to do, that we're busy, that we have this plethora of things to take care of - that's the BS in action. That's what's holding you back from your productivity.

Pitfall #4: Performance

Number four is performance. We're talking about energy. The energy to storm through the week, to finish strong each and every day and week, to be a top performer.

Some people think "I don't have it in me. I'm not a performer like he or she is. I'm not full of beans like they are." Once again that’s absolute BS.

A great friend once said, "The power plant doesn't have energy. It generates energy." Don't sit there saying, "I'm not a performer" or "I'm not at their level." Generate that energy, and that'll make you that performer and bust that story you've been telling yourself.
